I just realized I forgot to let you all know that I would be in Prague for the weekend. Therefore, I won’t be doing much updating until I get back and do at least some school work (which is harder than it may seem). Anyways, thanks to the wonders of free wifi, I can give you a nice little update on my time here in the good ol’ Czech Republic:
First manner of business, the free tours in European cities are actually awesome (tip the dude a few bucks after, its worth it). I was able to get a full 3 hour walking tour of the surprisingly small city of Prague for a measly 50 crowns (~ 2 euros/ 3 bucks), the guy then promptly explained the best way to get to the Prague Castle and that we could walk around most of the place for free as well. So, James and I figured we would take a peak…I mean, c’mon, it’s one of the oldest and largest castles in Europe. So, off we treked, wandering around the city and finally making our way up the famous castle that overlooks the whole city. Long story short, if I was alive 1000 years ago, this is where I would want to live (hell, it would even be a sweet place to live now). Its basically the medieval age equivalent of a super mega mall… it has EVERYTHING.
Although the site seeing has been sweet, I think the best part of this country is that they don’t nickle and dime you like most other European countries do (especially the big tourist destinations). As mentioned earlier, a 3 hour tour turned out being 2 euros, and a pint of some awesome local beer (“Pivo”) at the pub? 1 euro! Are you kidding me?!?! Back in Amsterdam a pint of the cheapest shit will still run you 3 euros at the cheapest student bar in the city. What makes it even more awesome is that the “cheap” local beer is really good (In case you didn’t know, the pilsner was invented here in prague… local beers include the original Budweiser, called “Budvar,” Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen). I think I am just gonna drink as much as I humanly can in the few days I am here to make sure I take advantage of the price.

So yeah, thats what I have to say for now, but I am sure there will be much more to tell in a few days. Overall, if any of you ever have the chance to come to this city, do it. I just recommend not going at this time of year, todays high temp? 30 F (-1 C). Tomorrows forecast? “Very heavy snow.” Wonderful…
