Although this track came out a few months ago, most people only know about Alexandra’s smash hit, Mr. Saxobeat. This has a similar sound and feel to Saxobeat, but is just different enough to sound fresh and different. Just throw this song into the party playlist and enjoy the weekend.

Early last week, Mac Miller dropped his latest mixtape “I Love Life, Thank You.” For those who have been following Mac, you know he also has a full feature album, “Blue Slide Park,” dropping on iTunes in the coming days (November 8th to be exact). Therefore, I am left to believe that a) most of the track on the mixtape didn’t quite cut it for the album, and b) this is just meant to wet your whistle in anticipation for the album. Despite (a) probably being true, there are some solid tracks on the tape, and you may as well download the whole mixtape simply because ALL of his stuff tends to be pretty solid. A few weeks ago, my sister got married down in Atlanta… Being a groomsman, I had a chance to hit the town with the groom a couple nights before the big day. What does this have to do with music? Well, part of the night entailed checking out a concert by the Cold War Kids. While I do like CWK and thoroughly enjoyed their performance, the real show stopper was the warm up act, a rag tag jam band out of Louisiana by the name of GIVERS. Not only did they give off this incredible energetic and fun vibe, but the music was awesome, uplifting, and flat out fun. I want to compare them to Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeroes because of the wild stage performance and wide range of instruments, but they aren’t quite the same. Although I only just heard these guys for the first time with the drop of their latest mixtape, entitled Thursday, I think its appropriate that I am hearing the Canadian native for the first time while I myself am traveling Canada for the first time in my life. The sound is super-mellowed-out-alternative and is kinda slow, but it has a mesmerizing feel to it and is awfully well produced. Definitely give this tape a listen and watch out for more in the future..
Ive never really been the biggest OnCue fan, but I am one to give credit where credit is due. This song is pretty solid, but the video is soo dope. Cuey uses some stop motion cinematics to give this a really cool look and feel. Definitely worth taking a gander. Who knows, you may even be tempted to download it here…

So, just a quick life update; I am finally done with work tomorrow, and then I’ll be traipsing about the US and Canada for about two weeks to get the travel bug outta my system a big before school starts back up. But, that being said, I will be back on the blog regularly as of Sept 1. I know its been a while since Ive really been on my game, but I promise things will be better by then. However, more importantly….
Last week, Cam Meekins dropped his newest mixtape Dazed and Confused, to much anticipation. I’ve always been a big fan of Cam, and this tape definitely shows how he has progressed from an underground to more well produced, well rounded musician. Overall, Cam continues to grow as a lyricist and I also gotta give credit to his MC, who does him solid on the samples and background tracks. I think the future is bright for Mr. Meekins, but only time will tell. Until then, give his latest piece of work a good listen to. Once again, I gotta apologize for the lack of posts. Its been a busy two months and ive only recently had time to just sit down and keep you all updated… That being said, one of my absolute faves (and a fan favorite as well), Hoodie Allen, dropped his sophomore mixtape “Leap Year” just last week (download the whole thing here). To be frank, Hoodie absolutely kills the album and produces solid all around mixtape. His clever rhymes are complimented by some great MC work on the beats. Whether your a previous Hoodie fan or not, I think everyone should give this mixtape (or these songs in particular) a listen. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I know, I know… It has been awhile. And for that, I apologize dearly. Things have been real hectic and work has more or less taken over my life.
